IMHO. All three plus a dodgy communications plan. The client's requirements were clear as were the consequences of missing milestones. The Planning issue appears to be the PM did not lock down required resources prior to commencement. The clear risk of delay, in addition to the delays already endured, was linked directly to the availability of bespoke services from a single provider. Having a single provider for such a significant project in itself should have sent alarm bells. The PM also seems to have a frosty relationship with the client, a well-executed communications plan would assist in developing a cooperative relationship with them and quite possibly temper stringent requirements such as minor extensions etc, it's not a guarantee but it helps. I hope the PM survived the ordeal and became a wiser more effective one. I loved the video, nice one, keep them coming.

Thank you so much for this video. I found myself in a very similar situation and, in March of 2024, walked away from my job and Project Management without a backup plan. It was an awful experience and I still struggle every day with the anger and the pain. It's worse because my spouse still works at the organization so I am not able to make a clean break. I have some amazing accomplishments in my life and career but this experience has left me questioning everything I have ever done. What an awful feeling. I am so sorry you had to go through that, especially with a new baby. It warms my heart and gives me hope that you have been able to move past it. Hi Influential PMO, as someone who’s new to PM and just passed the APM I am enjoying your videos. I was wondering if you had any advice for how a PM could upskill themselves during ‘down time’ between projects. Essentially none of my projects are at delivery points and right now I’m kind of waiting on quotes or mock ups etc (don’t want to go into too much detail about my projects..!) thank you in advance if you have any pointers or a steer in the right direction, I enjoy Pm and want to be a good PM!

In the scenarios you have worked in where you are given an already written scope did that or in such scenarios would you expect that scope document to come with detail around the quality requirements? Also I would love a video on writing a SoW or similar scoping document.

Can I ask what's the difference between a contracted and a normal job. Furthermore I want to get into construction project management so would I just need an APM qualification for it?

Totally agree with what you said Stuart 😊 To supplement what was said, a simple way to think about and write risks is; There is a risk that (risk event) ........due to (cause).......resulting in (impact). An example fully written; risk event There is a risk that UX integration will be more complex than anticipated cause due to the integration with this system not being attempted before impact resulting in additional cost* and schedule* days overrun *add quantified metrics I hope this helps someone! This 2-minute presentation is worth its weight in gold. Being dropped into the deep end of a running project happens all too often. Videos like this, and many others from the influential PMO, are incredibly useful in a pragmatic, applicable way. Wonderful stuff!
